Explored in the late fifteenth century by the Portuguese, the country was named "Cameroon Rio das Cameroes;" In English, "River of Prawns." The principal industrial concern in Cameroon is mining. Agricultural enterprise plays second fiddle to Cameroon's other interests, including tobacco production. However, Cameroon does grow some extremely popular tobacco. While Cameroon cultivates filler and binder tobacco it is the expensive sun grown wrappers that are the most sought after.
